The comma is the most often used field separator (delimiter) for text files. However, if the field needs to be changed in Excel, this is based on a Microsoft Windows setting under the Region and Language settings:
  1. In Microsoft Windows, click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Open the dialog box for changing Regional and Language settings.
  3. In the dialog box, look for the List separator setting. (Location may vary based on Windows version. You may need to open Additional settings... on the Format tab to find it.)
  4. Enter the desired list separator.
  5. Click Apply and then click OK. (Or Click OK, then click Apply and then click OK.)
