A Portfolio is a single heading or umbrella, of a scholarship, award, fellowship, grant, or any other vehicle to which applicants apply, that bundles together related opportunities. Portfolios contain details about the related opportunities that remains static from year to year, like fund codes, donors, scopes, financial information, and visibility. The portfolio is created first, and then the subsequent opportunities are created to collect applications and make awards for specific periods of time.

This scholarship will continue to be funded into perpetuity, and provides awards to qualified applicants each term.

Subsequent Opportunities are created for specific periods of time:
Opportunity: The John and Mary Smith Memorial Scholarship>Fall 2018
This opportunity collects qualified applicants from September 1 to October 1, and grants awards on November 1.
Opportunity: The John and Mary Smith Memorial Scholarship>Summer 2019
This opportunity collects qualified applicants from May 31 to June 30, and grants awards on July 15.
Opportunity: The John and Mary Smith Memorial Scholarship>Spring 2019
This opportunity collects qualified applicants from January 1 to February 15, and grants awards on March 1.
