How to output contact's job title in an appeal mailing

In an appeal mailing letter, sometimes you want to find an organization contact's job title to include in the letter.
Use this solution if you're mailing directly to an organization and its contacts:
  1. Navigate to Marketing and Communications > Appeal Mailings
  2. Click on your Appeal mailing
  3. From the Letters tab, click the drop down next to your letter and select Edit.
  4. Scroll down to "Select recipient information to use to personalize your letter" and click Edit next to Merge fields.
  5. In the right column, Selected Fields, highlight the first line item: Direct Marketing Effort Export
  6. In the left column, highlight Constituent Marketing Information
  7. Move "Position" to the Selected Fields column using the blue arrow
  8. Click Save to save the changes.
  9. Click Next and Finish and Close to save your appeal mailing.

In addition to the contact's job title, you may also want to include both the contact addressee and the organization name in your mailing.

Use these steps if you're mailing to an individual directly and would like to output their job title for their primary business:
  6. In the left column, under Constituent Marketing Information, expand Constituent, expand Relationships, and highlight Employment Information.
  7. From the middle column, move "Job Title" to the Selected Fields column using the blue arrow
  8. Two export criteria windows will pop:
    1. In the first Export criteria screen, keep the Number to export at 1. Under Filter, choose Selected relationships. Bring "Is primary business" into Include records where. Set this to Equal to Yes. Click OK.
    2. In the second Export criteria screen, keep the Number to export at 1. Click OK.
  9. Save the merge fields.
  10. Click Next and Finish and Close to save your appeal mailing.
