Error: General ODBC Error: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The multi-part identifier ".Constit_ID" could not be bound. When generating labels sorted by query

After upgrading to RE 7.96 patch 13, when running a mailing using a Gift Query, I'm receiving:

Error:General ODBC Error:[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] The multi-part identifier "DBO.STATIC_RECS_5340.SEQUENCE" could not be bound.Native error:4140 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] The cursor was not declared. Native error:16945

This can occur when the option to Sort by query is selected on the mailing's Format tab.
This issue was resolved in all hosted data centers December 12, 2018, and the fix will be included in an upcoming patch for local install.

Previous answer:
The issue can occur when a gift query is included in the mailing, and it's being sorted by query under Format > Sort

In the meantime, the following can help resolve this error until the issue is resolved:
  • Instead of including a static gift query, include:
    • Constituent query (or another query type)
    • Dynamic gift query (may not resolve for all mailings)
  • Instead of sorting by Query order, sort the mail job Alphabetically or choose Do not sort.
    • Note: The Query field must be removed from the Sort Fields pane even if sorting is turned off or Alphabetical is added

Steps to Duplicate

  1. Log into RE.
  2. Click Mail.
  3. Click Envelopes.
  4. Click Include.
  5. Select Static or Gift under Query Format.
  6. Choose any static or gift query.
  7. Click Preview and notice the error.
