Try each of the following steps in order until the issue is resolved:

  1. Insure that your Raiser's Edge installation is on the latest release
    • In order for for the Data Health Center to connect to Blackbaud Data Health services, you must be on at least Raiser's Edge 7.96 Patch 12 or higher.
      • To check your Raiser's Edge version click Help --> About The Raiser's Edge
    • If you are on an older version of Raiser's Edge, please see Unable to upload Finder file: Unable to connect to host
  2. If you're using a proxy server or firewall, make the following exceptions:
    • on port 22
    • on port 443
    • Both should have outbound and inbound activity allowed.
  3. Attempt to connect manually to the Data Health Center server using a standard FTP client
    1. Download & install an FTP Client of your choice and install it
    2. Setup a new connection
      • Host:
      • Protocol: SFTP - SSH File Transfer
      • Port: 22
      • Username and Password can be obtained from your profile under the section called "FTP"
    3. Attempt connection
    4. If you are unable to establish a connection, engage your IT group to insure that the proper connection rules have been setup in your organization's firewall settings as depicted in section 1 above.
  4. If you use Microsoft ISA Firewall
    • Download and install the client components from Microsoft's website on the workstation that is generating the error message.
